Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful applicant will prepare authentic Malaysian cuisine, maintain high food quality standards and support the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present authentic Malaysian dishes, including Penang-style Char Koay Teow, Hokkien Mee, Laksa, Nasi Lemak and other traditional menu items.
- Prepare and portion ingredients to ensure consistency, quality and efficient service.
- Operate wok stations using traditional high-heat cooking techniques.
- Assist with menu planning and the development of new and seasonal dishes.
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation and portion control.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
- Monitor stock levels, order kitchen supplies and minimise food wastage.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to provide an excellent dining experience.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must possess either:
- A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, or an equivalent qualification;
or
- At least three years of full-time relevant work experience as a Chef.
Experience preparing authentic Malaysian cuisine, particularly Penang-style dishes, and strong wok cooking skills will be highly regarded.
