Velocity Support Services is a growing community care provider delivering person-centred supports across disability, community nursing, supported accommodation and community-based care.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join our clinical team and provide nursing care, clinical oversight, staff training and compliance support across our services.
About the Role
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:
- Completing nursing assessments and developing clinical care plans
- Reviewing and updating participant health and complex care plans
- Providing community nursing and complex health supports
- Monitoring participant health and escalating clinical concerns
- Wound assessment and management
- Catheter and continence care
- Bowel management
- Diabetes management
- Enteral feeding and other complex health supports where required
- Medication management and clinical oversight
- Supporting hospital-to-home transitions
- Liaising with GPs, hospitals, pharmacies and allied health professionals
- Preparing nursing reports and maintaining accurate clinical records
Support Worker Training & Competency
A key component of this position is supporting the clinical capability of our frontline workforce.
The RN will:
- Provide participant-specific training to Support Workers
- Conduct and document clinical competency assessments
- Provide medication training and competency assessments
- Provide training relating to complex health support needs
- Identify staff knowledge and competency gaps
- Coordinate or provide refresher training
- Provide ongoing clinical guidance to Support Workers
- Monitor staff implementation of nursing and complex care plans
Medication & Documentation Compliance
The RN will have responsibility for supporting strong clinical compliance across services, including:
- Reviewing medication charts and MAR documentation
- Monitoring PRN medication documentation
- Conducting medication documentation audits
- Identifying missing signatures, medication discrepancies and documentation errors
- Following up medication incidents and corrective actions
- Reviewing participant clinical documentation and relevant progress notes
- Monitoring compliance with nursing and health care plans
- Conducting clinical documentation audits
- Providing feedback and education where documentation standards are not met
- Escalating repeated or significant clinical compliance concerns
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Relevant nursing qualification
- Current National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Appropriate Australian working rights
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in community settings
- Strong communication and staff education skills
Highly regarded: Previous experience in NDIS/disability, community nursing, mental health, aged/home care, complex care, medication management, clinical auditing or Support Worker competency assessment.
