Purpose of the Role
An established consumer lending fintech business is seeking a Business Development Manager (Sales) to join their Sales Team.
As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving business growth by acquiring new merchant partners and managing relationships across the partner lifecycle.
You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, engaging prospective merchants, and delivering strong commercial outcomes. This role is ideally suited to candidates with experience in consumer lending, payments, or fintech sales, who are confident in building relationships and operating in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
Key Accountabilities
Merchant Acquisition & Growth
· Identify, engage, and onboard new merchant partners across targeted segments
· Proactively pitch business value proposition to prospective partners
· Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities to drive acquisition targets
· Prioritise high-value opportunities to maximise commercial outcomes
Relationship Management & Account Growth
· Act as the primary point of contact for merchant partners post onboarding
· Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with partners
· Conduct regular check-ins to identify growth, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities
· Support partners to maximise product adoption and performance
Sales Execution & Performance
· Achieve and exceed acquisition, revenue, and activity targets
· Maintain accurate pipeline and activity tracking within CRM systems (e.g. Zoho)
· Prepare and present sales reports, pipeline updates, and performance insights
· Manage inbound and outbound enquiries with a high level of responsiveness
Collaboration & Go-to-Market
· Work closely with sales (BDM and BDR team), marketing, and product teams to refine go-to-market strategies
· Provide market feedback and insights to support product and commercial improvements
· Contribute to initiatives that enhance the overall merchant experience

Experience & Qualifications
· Experience in business development or sales within consumer lending, payments, or fintech
· Proven track record of meeting or exceeding acquisition or revenue targets
· Experience acquiring and managing merchant or partner relationships
· Strong understanding of lending or financial services products
· Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Zoho or Salesforce
· Relevant degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline (preferred)
