Central Queensland Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service is all about supporting people through some of life's toughest moments while making a difference across regional communities. Caring for more than 250,000 residents across Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Biloela, Moura, Woorabinda and the Central Highlands, the service offers a unique mix of inpatient, acute and community-based care where every day brings variety, connection and purpose.
About the role:
Support and advocate for patients, families, carers and support persons by ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities under the Mental Health Act.
Assist patients to communicate their views, wishes and treatment preferences with health practitioners and support networks.
Work collaboratively with mental health professionals, community visitors, guardians and legal representatives to protect and promote patient interests.
Provide guidance and support for Mental Health Review Tribunal hearings, including explaining patient rights and assisting with representation if requested.
Deliver services across Central Queensland and Central West regions while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, confidentiality and legislative compliance.
About you:
Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
Bring your knowledge of the application and requirements of the Mental Health Act 2016 or ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
You will bring high level oral and written communication skills and ability to support people from vulnerable population groups, such as persons with a mental illness.
You will have the ability to consult with a broad range of mental health stakeholders, including mental health consumers, support persons, authorised doctors and administrators of authorised mental health services.
What we offer:
Total monthly remuneration value of up to $14,297 p.m. is comprised of:
An hourly rate between $70.66 - $75.83 p.h.
