This role is classified as Level 3 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement, with an hourly rate of $57 - $62 per hour, including 24% casual loading. The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.
As a rostered shift worker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA.
The Role
As a Casual Cross-Platform Journalist/Producer with SBS World News, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, distinctive journalism across multiple platforms. You’ll report, write, edit and produce compelling news content.
You’ll contribute to the full editorial process, from pitching and developing story ideas to crafting scripts, conducting interviews, coordinating with editors and camera crews, and delivering polished content on tight deadlines. You’ll work across breaking news, live crosses, in-field reporting, and digital storytelling, ensuring our audiences receive accurate, engaging and culturally informed coverage.
This role is hands on, fast paced and varied. You may be producing scripts one day, reporting live from the field the next, or preparing multimedia content for digital and social platforms. Whatever the task, you’ll bring strong news judgement, editorial integrity.
About you
You’re an experienced journalist with 7+ years in the industry and a strong foundation in cross-platform news production. You’re proactive and adaptable. You are someone who can switch between platforms, juggle competing deadlines and uphold the highest editorial standards.
