The Project:
Over the past 10 years Cefn has expanded by approximately 7,500 sows using Big Dutchman equipment throughout 34 intensive animal buildings. The sheds that have been built are completely sealed and require a sophisticated Big Dutchman ventilation system to operate. This equipment includes exhaust fans, evaporative cooling systems, automated curtains and heaters along with the penning, floor systems and feeding systems. Cefn will be going through an extensive maintenance program requiring skilled staff with Big Dutchman experience to replace, service and maintain key operating components of the sheds. We estimate that the current maintenance project will take 6 months to complete.
The Positions:
The positions are a Fixed Term Contract, Full-time. The current maintenance project is likely to be completed within 6 months of the starting date (August 2026 start). To ensure that the project is completed within the programmed timeline, we are seeking the following specialised skilled applicants for the positions of:
Mechanical Fitter (Plant Installation)
Carpenter (Plant and Building Installation)
The Roles:
1. Mechanical Fitter (Plant Installation)
The successful applicant will be required to remove and replace Big Dutchman brand ventilation systems and piggery equipment. This is a term appointment – maximum term of 6 months.
To qualify this position, you will have:· Minimum 4 years’ experience as a specialist technician for the installation or maintenance of Big Dutchman brand agricultural equipment· Experience working to engineering drawings· Experience hydraulic and pneumatic transfer systems· Experience in the erection and fit out of custom intensive animal farming buildings. (Pig or Poultry)
2. Carpenter (Plant and Building Installation)
The successful applicant will be required to remove and replace Big Dutchman agricultural equipment. This is a term appointment – maximum term of 6 months.
To qualify this position, you will have· Minimum 4 years’ experience as a specialist technician for the installation or maintenance of Big Dutchman brand agricultural equipment· Experience in working to engineering drawings· Experience in the erection and fit out of custom intensive animal farming buildings. (Pig or Poultry)
This is a fixed term position and the remuneration will be in the range $27.00 to $38.00 per hour depending on skills and experience.
Pay: $27.00 – $38.00 per hour
