Salary: $77,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Fitter to join our team in Mount St John. The successful candidate will be responsible for fitting, assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical plant, equipment, and machinery used in our building and industrial operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Interpreting engineering drawings, plans, specifications and blueprints to plan fabrication and assembly work
· Measuring, marking and preparing metal components for cutting, bending, machining and welding with a high degree of accuracy
· Setting up, operating and adjusting metal fabrication machinery, tools and equipment, including welders (MIG, stick, oxy-acetylene), lathes, drill presses, magnetic base drills and hydraulic punching equipment
· Cutting, shaping, drilling, boring, grinding and finishing metal components to required tolerances using appropriate machining and fabrication techniques
· Performing welding and fabrication work on steel, aluminium and stainless steel, including plasma cutting and oxy-acetylene cutting
· Assembling fabricated metal parts and sub-assemblies into completed products and equipment
· Conducting quality inspections and checks to ensure finished work meets specifications and company standards
· Diagnosing faults in equipment or fabricated components and carrying out repairs, adjustments or maintenance as required
· Working independently while complying with workplace health and safety requirements and reporting equipment or operational issues to management
· Maintaining accurate job, quality and maintenance records as required
Skills and Experience Required
· Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (or equivalent qualification)
· Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience as a Fitter
· Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Commitment to workplace health and safety
