We have a solid pipeline of ongoing work, so we are looking for an experienced estimator to join our team. Our work covers a broad spectrum of projects from new houses to renovations and extensions, insurance repairs and non-completes and small commercial projects including roof replacements and shed builds.
This is a key role within our small operations team. To be successful in this role, you will be a proficient estimator, good communicator, be able to manage priorities to meet tight turn-around times and be a team player.
About the Role
This is a full-time, permanent position.
The role is primarily responsible for calculating the cost and sales budget for construction projects and preparing tender proposals for clients.
Given the nature of our projects, the Estimator is involved in assessing project feasibility, preparing scope of works, preparing tender documentation, establishing costs against construction stages, preparing and releasing purchase orders and establishing relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyse documentation including plans, drawings, specifications and
engineering in order to establish project requirements
- Conduct site inspections (or liaise with the person that did)
- Take-offs when required to establish bill of quantities and determine
scope of works, understand risks and find opportunities to bring efficiencies to the project
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, certifiers and others to ensure
refine project requirements and contract deliverables
- Identify labour, material and time requirements
- Release work packages to trades for quoting as required
- Ensure projects adhere to building legislation and standards of
performance, quality, cost and safety
- Working with regulatory authorities when required to submit applications
and provide documentation and reports for approvals
- Present prepared cost estimates, customer quotations and risk analysis
to management for review, approval and tender submission
- Prepare schedules in conjunction with Construction Manager that
coordinate labour resources and materials to deliver projects that meet all time, budget, quality and safety objectives
- Communicate with internal teams as well as clients, subcontractors and
other stakeholders involved in the construction process to ensure project objectives
- Prepare and release Purchase Orders as required
- Establish and maintain relationships with trades and suppliers

- Proven experience with an established career as a construction estimator
- Manage turnaround times on estimates and handling of multiple projects
simultaneously.
