We are seeking an experienced regulatory leader who can lead the Rapid Regulatory Response Team, Compliance Monitoring and Inspections Team and the Public Land Use Compliance Team, to deliver regulatory outcomes that support a safe and liveable city.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Provide leadership, management and oversight of complex cases and projects to support staff and operationalise the Construction Occupation Registrar’s vision and purpose.

Provide leadership and management of teams engaged in high level and complex compliance and regulatory actions.

Provide strategic, evidence based and procedural advice and direction on directorate, government, and regulatory issues.

Prepare strategic and complex submissions, reports, briefs, and correspondence on a diverse range of matters.

Lead the team to develop and utilise skills in reading, interpreting, interrogating, and applying legislation, professional judgement, statutory powers, and the risk/harm regulation model to deliver proactive and reactive regulation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Certificate IV in Government Investigations or experience in a regulatory / investigations role is desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately to 26 June 2026, with the possibility of extension up to 6 weeks. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
