Salary:
Academic Level B (Lecturer) Salary: $123,327 – $145,625 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading (Pro-rata).
Academic Level C (Senior Lecturer) Salary: $150,081 – $172,392 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading (Pro-rata).
Deliver integrated academic and clinical outcomes in Surgery
The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking to appoint two Lecturer or Senior Lecturers in Surgery to join the School of Medicine at Liverpool Clinical School on a part-time basis.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a highly integrated academic-clinical environment, supporting the education of future medical practitioners while delivering specialist surgical services within the local health district.
You will play a key role in designing and delivering high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate medicine programs, including curriculum development, assessment and feedback. The position supports student progression, academic excellence and graduate employability outcomes, while contributing to course administration and quality assurance processes.
In addition to academic responsibilities, the successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of surgical services at Liverpool Hospital, undertaking clinical and administrative duties within the relevant surgical department as directed by the Clinical Dean, Liverpool. You will work collaboratively with academic and clinical colleagues to advance teaching, research and clinical practice within the discipline.

About You
You are an enthusiastic and collaborative medical professional with a strong commitment to education, clinical excellence and research.
For Lecturer Level

Demonstrated expertise in Surgery (or a recognised surgical subspeciality)

Experience in teaching and learning design at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level

Capacity to contribute to research and scholarly activities

Strong communication and teamwork skills within academic and clinical environments
For Senior Lecturer Level
-
Advanced academic expertise and a strong track record in teaching, research and academic leadership
-
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and innovation in surgical education
-
Established research profile with evidence of publications and/or grant activity

Proven ability to supervise students and contribute to academic governance
Essential Requirements (Both Levels)

Medical qualification with specialist training in Surgery

Fellowship of a relevant Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) specialty, or equivalent (or nearing completion for Lecturer level)

Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia

Eligibility to hold a clinical appointment at Liverpool Hospital

Consultant-level surgical experience (or nearing fellowship for Lecturer level)
