ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Batching Supervisor Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of large-scale solar farm construction projects by overseeing stabilised sand batching and backfilling activities associated with structural pile installation. This hands-on technical role combines site supervision, quality assurance and construction coordination, ensuring batching operations, material specifications, mix designs and completed backfill works meet required structural, geotechnical and project standards. You will coordinate day-to-day batching activities, monitor quality and compliance, maintain accurate technical and QA records, and work closely with construction, engineering and QA teams to ensure works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with approved designs and project requirements.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate stabilised sand batching and backfilling activities associated with structural pile installation on large-scale solar farm projects.
- Oversee the production and placement of stabilised sand to ensure works are completed in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, construction methodologies and relevant quality requirements.
- Verify that sand, cement and other materials used in batching meet required project specifications and applicable standards.
- Coordinate and oversee the setup, operation and calibration requirements of mobile batching equipment.
- Monitor the placement of stabilised sand into pre-drilled pile holes to ensure appropriate filling, compaction, material contact and surface finish in accordance with structural and geotechnical requirements.
- Inspect and assess completed backfill works for defects including settlement, cracking, voids, gaps and other conditions that may affect pile support or structural performance.
- Maintain accurate batching, inspection, testing and quality records.
- Coordinate personnel, plant, materials and supporting equipment to maintain safe, efficient and continuous batching and backfilling operations.
- Assisting engineers and project supervisors by providing accurate survey data and technical support.
- Provide technical guidance and day-to-day supervision to batching and backfilling personnel to ensure work is performed consistently and in accordance with approved procedures.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
- Demonstrated experience in construction, civil works, structural works, batching operations, pile installation support or a closely related technical construction environment.
- Practical experience supervising or coordinating batching, backfilling, concrete, stabilised materials or similar construction activities.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, quality requirements and technical specifications relating to structural or civil works.
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, technical documentation, methodologies and project requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor construction works against specified design, quality and acceptance criteria.
- High Risk Work Licences or plant operating tickets (e.g. Telehandler, Forklift, Skid Steer or similar).
- Experience completing and maintaining construction and quality documentation, including inspection records, batch records, checklists and supporting evidence.
- Ability to identify defects or non-conforming works and assist in determining and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to coordinate daily site activities.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Construction White Card.
- Willingness to travel and work on remote project sites on a roster basis.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and motivate a field team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Safety-focused with a proactive approach to risk management.
Salary
If successful, you will be paid a base salary of approximately $85,000 - $95,000 per annum.
Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
