About Us
We are a growing Australian business based in Laverton, Victoria, specialising in the import, distribution and technical support of specialised instruments, equipment, machinery, components and spare parts.
We work closely with manufacturers and suppliers in China and support Australian dealers, business customers and end users across different locations. As our product range, dealer network and customer base continue to expand, we are seeking a full-time Engineering Technologist to support product compliance, technical coordination, product improvement and dealer technical support.
About the Role
The Engineering Technologist will work closely with management, overseas manufacturers, suppliers, Australian dealers and end users to review product performance, assess technical requirements, support product improvement, and ensure imported products are suitable for the Australian market.
The role involves both engineering and technical coordination duties, including reviewing product specifications, collecting dealer and user feedback, communicating technical requirements to manufacturers, supporting Australian compliance requirements, and assisting dealers with product-related technical issues.
This is a technical role focused on product adaptation, engineering support, supplier coordination, Australian standards, dealer support and product improvement. It is not a general sales or marketing role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Reviewing technical specifications, product manuals, drawings, product data and supplier information for imported instruments, equipment, components and spare parts.
- Assessing whether imported products are suitable for Australian business users, dealers and end users.
- Assisting management to review whether products meet relevant Australian technical, safety, quality and compliance requirements.
- Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers regarding product specifications, product modifications, spare parts, technical documents, quality issues and delivery requirements.
- Collecting technical feedback from Australian dealers, business customers and end users regarding product performance, installation, operation, maintenance and after-sales issues.
- Analysing product issues and communicating proposed improvements or modifications to manufacturers and suppliers.
- Supporting product adaptation and improvement so that products better suit Australian operating conditions, customer expectations and dealer requirements.
- Assisting with the preparation and review of technical documents, product information sheets, compliance records, dealer support materials and product improvement reports.
- Providing technical support to Australian dealers regarding product features, technical specifications, spare parts, maintenance issues and troubleshooting.
- Coordinating technical communication between China-based manufacturers and suppliers, the Laverton office, Australian dealers and end users.
- Supporting stock and spare parts planning by reviewing technical compatibility, product demand, dealer feedback and supplier availability.
- Assisting with product testing, technical inspections, quality checks and issue reporting before products are supplied to dealers or customers.
- Maintaining records of technical issues, supplier responses, product improvements, compliance documents and dealer feedback.
- Supporting the ongoing development of the company’s product range, dealer network and technical support system.
Skills and Experience Required
The successful applicant should have:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Product Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong ability to review product specifications, technical documents, manuals and engineering-related information.
- Good understanding of product performance, technical troubleshooting, quality control and product improvement processes.
- Ability to analyse technical problems and communicate practical solutions to management, suppliers, dealers and customers.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with manufacturers, suppliers, dealers, technical staff and business customers.
- Experience in imported products, machinery, instruments, equipment, spare parts, dealer support, product compliance or technical product coordination will be highly regarded.
- Understanding of Australian product safety, technical standards or compliance requirements will be an advantage.
- Mandarin communication skills will be highly regarded, as the role involves regular and time-sensitive communication with manufacturers and suppliers in China regarding product specifications, stock availability, technical documents, quality issues, product modifications and dealer support requirements.
- Deeply understanding aerodynamics ballistic in firearm industry and knowledge in long range target sporting shooting.
