Wollongong Private Hospital provides all major services including an intensive care unit, ten operating theatres, cardiac and vascular Labs and an Endoscopy suite. Surgical specialties include Cardiothoracic, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, interventional cardiology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, Head and Neck, Gynaecological, Urology, Colorectal, upper GI, General, Vascular and Plastics.
Job Description
This role is ideal for an experienced nurse with a passion for cardiac care and clinical education.
About the Role
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager and the Staff Development Manager, you will play a key role in supporting staff development within the Cardiothoracic/Cardiac ward.
Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering high-quality, evidence-based education and clinical support.

Developing, implementing, and evaluating learning and development programs relevant to the department.

Coordinating mandatory and non-mandatory training and in-service sessions.

Contributing to the hospital’s quality improvement and safety initiatives.
About You
You are a dynamic and motivated nursing professional with a strong clinical background in leading a team.
You are passionate about clinical education and professional development, with a commitment to supporting excellence in patient care within a multidisciplinary team environment. Your leadership, communication skills, and dedication to continuous improvement make you a valued mentor and team member.
Essential Criteria:

Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
-
Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including at least 4 years in a relevant specialty area.

Cardiothoracic, Cardiac and/or Vascular experience/knowledge.
-
Proven experience in clinical education or preceptorship in formal and informal settings.

Sound knowledge of evidence-based practice in a clinical environment.

Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office).
-
Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Desirable:
-
Postgraduate qualifications in Cardiac Nursing.

Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or Postgraduate qualification in Education (or prepared to work towards).
-
Completion of a Preceptorship Program.
-
ALS Assessor qualifications.
