We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our busy pub/bistro kitchen on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated hospitality professional to work in a high-volume venue delivering quality modern pub classics and seasonal specials.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head Chef/Management, the successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing food preparation and supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and contributing to seasonal menus in consultation with management.
- Estimating food and labour costs and assisting with stock control and ordering.
- Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality pub and bistro-style meals across lunch and dinner service.
- Ensuring consistency in flavour, portion control and presentation.
- Monitoring kitchen operations during service to maintain efficiency and standards.
- Supervising, training and mentoring apprentices and junior kitchen staff.
- Maintaining compliance with food safety regulations and workplace health and safety standards.
- Managing food storage, stock rotation and minimising waste.
- Assisting with menu development, daily specials and function catering where required.
About You
To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate:
- A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role within a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Proven ability to lead and support junior staff.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
- A commitment to quality food, consistency and professional kitchen standards.
- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
- Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings and weekends.
- Full Australian working rights.
This is a full-time position offering 38 hours per week with an annual salary from $79,500 - $82,500 per year, depending on experience.
