About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to play a key role in maintaining and improving Hewitt’s technology environment across Australia and the United States. Reporting to the Infrastructure and Security Manager, you will be responsible for the stability, security, performance and resilience of our Microsoft 365, Azure and core infrastructure platforms. This hands-on technical role combines systems administration, cybersecurity, cloud operations and project delivery while providing expert guidance to internal teams, MSPs and external partners. You will contribute to infrastructure modernisation, operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives that support business growth and reliability.
Key Responsibilities

Administer and optimise Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, server, network and enterprise application environments.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives, including Essential 8 maturity improvements, vulnerability management and incident response activities.
- Manage backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, including testing, validation and recovery planning.
- Deliver infrastructure projects, system upgrades, automation initiatives and technology modernisation programs.
- Provide advanced Level 2/3 technical support, mentoring and technical leadership across the IT function.
About You
You are a highly capable infrastructure professional with extensive experience managing complex Microsoft and cloud environments. You thrive in a hands-on role where you can balance operational support, security improvements and project delivery. With strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive mindset, you are comfortable working across multiple technologies while communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are passionate about continuous improvement and enjoy mentoring others while delivering reliable, secure outcomes for the business.
You Will Bring

Demonstrated senior systems administration experience across Windows Server, networking, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and cloud-hosted infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure environments, including governance, monitoring and identity integration.
- Expertise in backup and disaster recovery platforms, ideally Veeam, including restore testing and resilience planning.
- Advanced scripting and automation skills, preferably with PowerShell.
- Excellent incident management, documentation and stakeholder communication capabilities.
