PW6 $88,255 - $94,738 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).

The Holmesglen Employment Centre is the Institute’s powerhouse for employment support and pathways into education, delivering personalised career advice, job-readiness training, and targeted support for job seekers through key Victorian Government initiatives. In this rewarding role, you will provide tailored one-on-one youth counselling to support disengaged youth and early school leavers to identify their aspirations, build confidence, and transition successfully into education, training, and employment pathways.
You will deliver targeted outreach, conduct initial check-ins to understand individual needs, and develop career education activities and employability programs that empower young people to achieve their goals. Working collaboratively with schools, community organisations, employers, and other stakeholders, you will contribute to workshops, career expos, and job fairs while providing qualified, youth-focused career advice aligned with CAS delivery guidelines. As a Youth Counsellor, you will:

Provide counselling, guidance and support to young people to help them achieve positive education, employment and wellbeing outcomes.

Deliver individual and group programs focused on life skills, career planning and job readiness.

Connect young people with appropriate community, education and support services.

Maintain accurate case notes and confidential client records.

Build strong relationships with schools, community organisations and employers to support youth pathways.
To be successful, you’ll have:

Graduate Certificate in Careers Development, Degree, Diploma or Graduate Certificate in Youth Work, Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Career Development or a related field, together with relevant experience.

Experience supporting young people through education, employment or personal challenges.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Experience facilitating workshops, programs or one-on-one support sessions.

Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage competing priorities.
WWCC and Police Check:
Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
