Your opportunity
Working within Mission Australia’s values and recovery-oriented approach, this role focuses on building trusting relationships, supporting clients to achieve their goals, and helping them access the services and resources needed to strengthen independence and wellbeing.
Missionbeat provides rapid-response crisis intervention, street outreach, and welfare support to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness across Sydney. Through mobile patrols, welfare checks, material aid, referrals, and connections to essential services such as healthcare and housing, Missionbeat acts as a key access point helping vulnerable people navigate available supports. As an outreach case worker, you will provide rapid on-street support, conduct client assessments, develop individualised support plans, undertake assertive outreach activities, and connect clients with appropriate community and support services. You will work collaboratively with clients, internal teams, external agencies, and community partners to improve outcomes and support clients on their recovery journey.
The role requires strong communication skills, professional judgement, confidentiality, and the ability to engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds. You will also contribute to program activities, community engagement, reporting, and maintaining accurate client records to ensure high-quality service delivery.
We are currently recruiting for multiple full-time and part-time position:
Full Time: Monday to Friday; 9am to 5pm
Full Time: Monday to Friday – 1 pm to 9 pm
Part Time Shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 3 pm to 9 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Part time shifts from Wednesday to Friday from 3 pm and 9 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Your key responsibilities will be to:

Conducting outreach, assessments, registrations, and referrals to appropriate services

Supporting clients to build independence and transition into sustainable supports
-
Building effective relationships with clients, community organisations, government agencies, and service providers
-
Maintaining accurate case notes, reports, documentation, and client records
-
Participating in team meetings, training, community activities, and program improvements
Requirements for success
-
Relevant qualifications and experience in community services, mental health, or a related field
-
Experience supporting clients with complex needs
-
Strong communication, engagement, and active listening skills
-
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
-
Sound administration and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and client management systems
-
A positive, respectful, and person-centred approach that recognises people’s strengths and capacity for growth
-
Strong knowledge of recovery frameworks, mental health systems, and psychosocial rehabilitation
-
Valid full driver’s license
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, WWCC and referee checks.
