The Team Leader Youth Programs is responsible for the effective leadership, management and operation of sector leading services to young people that include the Youth Outreach program, The Hub Youth Space and Decibels Music and Arts Studio.
About the role:
The role will over the planning and development of relevant processes and procedures, in line with Council, to support youth led and integrated, planning, implementation and evaluation of services to Darebin’s diverse community.
You will:
- Plan, develop and lead youth programs
- Recruit, lead, support, supervise and mentor staff to provide quality services to young people and the community.
- Support to update systems, policies and procedures to ensure the safe, secure and efficient operation of youth programs and spaces.
- Maximise youth and community use through targeted promotion
- Liaise and consult with stakeholders and partners to identify emerging and priority issues
- Contribute to department and organisational planning processes and leadership group activities, as required.
- Monitor appropriated program budget and provide progress reports on expenditure and performance indicators.

Other duties as directed within the skills and capabilities of a position at this level.
About you:
-
Tertiary qualification in Youth, Social Work or Social Sciences and/or related field with several years’ relevant experience, or, lesser formal qualifications with extensive experience.

Experience in leading, coaching and supporting teams in a youth or community services setting
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, manage and evaluate youth programs, projects, activities and events within given time frames and budgets.

Knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues and or legislation impacting young people
- Demonstrated skills in policy and procedural development and making recommendations for improvement.

Understanding of, and the ability to meet reporting requirements as directed by City of Darebin and any external funding departments.

Excellent communication skills in both writing and verbal capability with a particular ability to effectively engage with Darebin’s diverse community.

A current employee Working with Children Card.

A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
