Jayleen Bridal House is looking for an experienced Bridal Dressmaker / Seamstress to join our Armadale boutique.
We are a high-end bridal store specialising in beautiful, quality wedding gowns and personalised service for brides-to-be. We are looking for someone who has strong bridal alteration experience, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to work directly with brides during fittings.
This role is ideal for someone who understands the care, precision, and emotion involved in bridalwear. Wedding dresses are not basic hemming jobs. They require patience, skill, accuracy, and the ability to make every bride feel supported and confident.
About the Role
As our Bridal Dressmaker / Seamstress, you will be responsible for bridal alterations, fittings, and garment adjustments for our brides. You will work closely with our boutique team to ensure every gown fits beautifully and is finished to a high standard.
You will be working with wedding gowns, formal gowns, lace, beading, delicate fabrics, corsets, hems, bustles, straps, bodices, and other bridal details.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete bridal alterations to a high professional standard
- Conduct fittings with brides and record required adjustments clearly
- Pin, measure, and assess gowns during fittings
- Alter wedding gowns including hems, bodices, straps, bustles, cups, zips, sleeves, and other fit adjustments
- Work with delicate bridal fabrics including lace, tulle, satin, organza, beading, and embellishments
- Complete machine sewing and hand-finishing where required
- Ensure gowns are completed on time and ready for bride collection
- Communicate clearly with the boutique team about alteration timelines and fitting requirements
- Maintain a clean, organised, and professional work area
- Provide calm, friendly, and professional service to brides during fittings
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 2 years of sewing experience, preferably in bridal or formalwear
- Experience with wedding dress alterations is highly preferred
- Strong machine sewing and hand-sewing skills
- Confidence working with delicate fabrics, lace, beading, and structured gowns
- Ability to conduct fittings and communicate with brides professionally
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong time management skills
- A calm, patient, and friendly attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Pride in producing high-quality work
Bridal Experience Preferred
Applicants with bridal alteration experience will be highly regarded. Experience with couture, custom-made gowns, made-to-measure gowns, or high-end eveningwear will also be considered.
