Full-Time | Fish N Flips Upper Kedron
Ever watched a swimming lesson and thought, “I’d do that differently?”
Not because you think you know everything, but because you notice what helps children learn, what gives teachers confidence and what creates a better experience for families.
You may already be leading, even if you have never held the title.
Fish N Flips Upper Kedron is looking for an experienced swim teacher who is ready to take the next step into leadership while remaining connected to what matters most: teaching children.
This is a hands-on role. You will continue teaching while helping our team deliver safe, engaging and consistently great swimming lessons.
You do not need to have every leadership answer already. We are looking for someone who cares about people, notices opportunities to improve and is ready to take greater responsibility.
We will support you with the rest.
As our Swim School Lead, you will work alongside the venue team to support lesson quality, teacher development and the day-to-day experience of our swimmers and families.
You will help:
-
Deliver engaging, play-based swimming lessons.
-
Coach and support swim teachers.
-
Observe lessons and provide practical feedback.
-
Help new teachers build confidence and capability.
-
Maintain high standards across teaching, safety and customer experience.
-
Respond calmly and professionally to parent questions or concerns.
-
Support the smooth running of lessons and venue operations.
-
Identify opportunities to improve the way we teach and work.
-
Step up, make decisions and take responsibility when needed.
Every child learns differently.
You will deliver lessons that help children feel safe, capable and proud of their progress. You will build genuine relationships with families and celebrate the small wins that create lifelong water confidence.
Leadership at Fish N Flips is not about standing on the sidelines and telling people what to do.
It is about working alongside your team, setting clear expectations and helping people improve.
You will recognise great teaching, provide honest and constructive feedback, support teachers through challenges and help maintain the standards our swimmers and families deserve.
Every interaction matters.
Whether you are answering a parent’s question, helping a teacher through a difficult lesson or celebrating a swimmer’s breakthrough, you will help create the welcoming and community-focused experience Fish N Flips is known for.
-
Loves teaching children and helping them succeed.
-
Understands that every swimmer learns differently.
-
Builds positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
-
Notices opportunities to support and develop others.
-
Can give clear, respectful and constructive feedback.
-
Stays calm and solutions-focused when things get busy.
-
Leads with kindness, empathy and accountability.
-
Takes responsibility and follows through.
-
Is open to feedback and committed to continually improving.
-
Wants to build a long-term career in aquatics while continuing to teach.
Leadership experience is an advantage, but it is not essential.
If you have naturally become the person others come to for advice, support or a second opinion, you may already have what it takes.
-
Previous swim teaching experience.
-
Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification.
-
Current CPR certificate.
-
Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain one.
-
Availability to work full-time across weekday afternoons and weekends.
-
A willingness to remain hands-on in the water as part of your leadership role.
We believe great leaders are developed, not simply promoted.
You will receive ongoing mentoring, practical leadership training and support as you build your confidence and capability.
We will help you develop the skills to coach teachers, support families, make sound decisions, maintain standards and lead with authenticity.
Fish N Flips is a community built on connection, play and confidence.
We believe children learn best when they feel safe, understood and excited to attend their lessons. We meet each child where they are, celebrate their progress and create playful learning experiences that build confidence for life.
We apply the same approach to our crew.
We support one another, share ideas, recognise growth and believe everyone deserves to feel valued at work.
Our values guide how we teach, lead and work together:
Always Embrace Play
Learning should be joyful, engaging and memorable.
Find a Better Way
Stay curious, keep learning and never stop improving.
Together We Make Their Day
Every interaction is an opportunity to positively influence a swimmer, parent or teammate.
Apply through SEEK with your résumé and a brief note telling us why you are ready to take the next step in your swim teaching career.
