Apprentice Carpenter – 1st, 2nd or 3rd Year
We’re looking for an apprentice carpenter who genuinely wants to learn the trade and become a great carpenter.
Ideally, we are looking for a second or third-year apprentice who already has some practical experience, their own ute and some of their own tools. However, we are open to a first-year apprentice if they have the right attitude, learn quickly and genuinely love the work.
For us, attitude matters just as much as experience.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is motivated, switched on and interested in understanding why something is being done – not just waiting to be told the next task.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is currently completing a carpentry apprenticeship
- Has their own reliable ute or suitable vehicle
- Has a current driver's licence, or is actively working towards one if younger
- Has some of their own basic tools, particularly for a second or third-year apprentice
- Is motivated and willing to work
- Shows initiative and looks for what they can do next
- Has a good memory and can retain what they are taught
- Listens carefully and follows instructions
- Learns from mistakes rather than repeating them
- Is interested in developing their skills and becoming more independent as their apprenticeship progresses
- Enjoys problem-solving and isn't put off when a job is difficult
- Takes pride in doing things properly
- Is reliable and turns up ready to work
- Helps keep the job site clean and organised without needing to be reminded
- Is willing to take responsibility for the tasks appropriate to their level
- Understands that becoming a good carpenter takes effort, practice and attention to detail
- Most importantly, genuinely enjoys carpentry and wants to become good at it
Our work is varied, which means you'll have the opportunity to learn across renovations, maintenance, repairs and general carpentry rather than doing the same task every day.
For a first-year applicant, we aren't expecting you to already know the trade. We are looking for someone who is keen, practical, quick to learn and willing to put the effort in.
For a second or third-year apprentice, we would expect you to have developed some independence and be able to complete appropriate tasks without needing constant supervision.
