YY Sports Management Pty Ltd is a growing sports retail business in Queensland. As part of our continued expansion, we will be opening our third retail store in late September 2026. We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Retail Store Manager to take responsibility for the establishment, day-to-day operation and ongoing performance of the new store.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operations of the store, including sales performance, product range and stock control, purchasing coordination, financial and transaction records, customer service standards, merchandising, staff supervision and operational compliance. The Retail Manager will work closely with senior management to implement and maintain appropriate retail operating procedures, monitor store performance and support the ongoing growth and development of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage and control the overall day-to-day operations of the new retail store, including establishing appropriate operational procedures and service standards for the new location.
· Determine appropriate product mix, stock levels and replenishment requirements by reviewing customer demand, sales performance and inventory movement.
· Coordinate purchasing and stock orders, liaise with suppliers regarding product availability, pricing, deliveries and order documentation, and ensure stock is received and recorded accurately.
· Monitor sales results, store expenses and financial performance against budgets and operational targets, and prepare regular reports for management.
· Maintain accurate records of sales transactions, stock movements, purchasing, expenses and other financial transactions, and investigate discrepancies where required.
· Assist management in preparing and controlling the store's operating budget and identify opportunities to improve profitability and control costs.
· Develop and implement appropriate pricing, promotional and merchandising strategies in consultation with management.
· Promote the company's products and services and implement in-store marketing and promotional activities to increase customer engagement and sales.
· Provide customers with professional advice regarding product selection, features, suitability and use, and ensure a consistently high standard of customer service.
· Monitor customer feedback, handle escalated enquiries and complaints, and implement improvements to customer service standards.
· Manage stocktake procedures, inventory accuracy, stock transfers and loss prevention, and investigate stock discrepancies.
· Recruit, train, roster, supervise and evaluate retail staff and allocate duties according to operational requirements.
· Establish appropriate staff procedures and ensure team members understand company policies, customer service expectations and sales procedures.
· Ensure store operations comply with relevant workplace health and safety requirements, company procedures and applicable retail requirements.
· Coordinate with the company's management, finance and administration functions regarding purchasing records, invoices, stock records, sales reporting and operational matters.
· Review the performance of the new store and recommend improvements to product range, purchasing, staffing, service standards and overall retail operations.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
· Previous three (3) years’ work experience in retail management.
· Strong retail sales and customer service experience.
· Experience managing stock, inventory and merchandising.
· Good leadership and team management skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
· Confidence using POS systems and general computer applications.
· The ability to work independently and take ownership of store operations.
· A proactive and hands-on approach to work.
· Availability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends when required.
· An interest in sport or sporting goods.
· Mandarin language skills are advantageous, as the role involves regular communication and coordination with suppliers in China regarding product sourcing, purchasing and stock orders.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
