Tesla is redefining energy retail through our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and retail energy platform, seamlessly integrating Tesla Powerwall batteries, EV charging, and electric vehicles to deliver smarter, more sustainable energy solutions. As a Retail Electricity Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and market innovation in Australia. You’ll combine deep financial analysis with cutting-edge tech and AI skills to build your own analytical tools and dashboards, identify untapped opportunities, and help shape market-leading VPP and retail energy products that maximise the value of Tesla’s ecosystem.
This is an opportunity for a self-starter who thrives on autonomy, spots gaps before others do, and turns data into actionable strategies that keep Tesla at the forefront of Australia’s energy transition.
This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide.
What You'll Do-
Conduct financial analysis and competitive benchmarking of retail electricity offers, using data to track performance, forecast outcomes, and optimise pricing strategies.

Build and maintain offer performance models, financial forecasts, and tracking dashboards—leveraging AI and advanced analytics tools to create custom solutions that improve accuracy and speed.

Identify gaps and opportunities in the Australian retail electricity market to develop innovative VPP products that increase utilisation of Tesla battery storage, EV charging infrastructure, and electric vehicles.

Collaborate across teams (product, engineering, trading, and operations) to translate insights into market-leading offerings that deliver both customer value and strong financial returns.

Monitor regulatory and market changes, providing forward-looking analysis that supports strategic decision-making and risk management.

Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, driving alignment on new product initiatives and performance improvements.
What You'll Bring-
Strong background in financial analysis, with proven experience in modelling, forecasting, and performance tracking.

Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter, proactively identifying opportunities and closing analytical gaps.

Advanced tech and AI skills, including experience building custom analytical tools, dashboards, or automation solutions (e.g., Python, SQL, Power BI, or similar).

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively across cross-functional teams.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

Preferred experience

Experience in Australian retail electricity markets and/or energy storage technology.

Familiarity with Virtual Power Plants, demand response, or behind-the-meter optimisation.

Hands-on knowledge of Tesla products (Powerwall, EV charging, and/or EVs) or similar distributed energy resources.

Experience in innovative product development or market expansion within the energy sector.
