Psychologist | Part-Time–Full-Time (1–4 days/week) | Online/Hybrid
Build a career, not just a caseload.
About The Liminal Clinic
The Liminal Clinic is an identity-inclusive psychology practice working with adult clients from diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.
Many of our clients are twice- or thrice-exceptional (2E/3E) — people with high cognitive ability who are also neurodivergent or disabled, and who identify with one or more marginalised groups (e.g. LGBTIQASB+, First Nations, CALD, and others). Our work is grounded in care, curiosity, and integrity, creating a space where people feel genuinely respected and supported.
“Liminal” speaks to the in-between — periods of uncertainty, transition, and growth, and the experience of not fully fitting within any one group. Many of our clients live in these spaces. So does our practice.
Based in Prahran (Narrm), we work online and in-person across Australia and internationally. As we grow, we’re establishing a clinic space in the Prahran–Fitzroy corridor. Until then, our primary focus is online delivery.
About the Role
We’re seeking registered psychologists at various career stages — from recently registered through to senior — to join a small, values-driven practice that is growing thoughtfully. This role is not suitable for provisional psychologists.
Initially, work will be primarily online/telehealth. We’re looking for someone available 1–4 days per week, with scope to grow as the clinic and your caseload develop.
The clients you’ll work with are human, so they're complex and rewarding in equal measure. Many are navigating intersecting identities and experiences, including:
- Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, AuDHD — often high-masking)
- Gender and sexuality diversity (LGBTIQASB+)
- First Nations identities and cultural contexts
- Culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Disability and chronic health conditions
- Trauma, complex trauma, and major life transitions
- Forensic or victim support service contexts
- Disordered eating and body image
This role goes beyond therapy sessions. It includes psychological assessment (ADHD, autism, PTSD, eating disorders, and others), outcome measurement, contribution to clinic systems and resources, and active participation in professional development and peer learning.
Who You Are
We’re not just looking for clinical skill — we’re looking for someone who is genuinely invested in the people they work with and in the growth of the clinic they’re part of.
The psychologists who thrive here will likely be people who:
- Are curious, not just competent — you think carefully about formulation and enjoy the complexity of the people you work with
- Take ownership — of their caseload, their professional development, and their contribution to the team
- Are proactive by nature — you don’t wait to be told what to do next; you notice what needs doing and get on with it
- Build and nurture relationships — with clients, referrers, and community partners, because you understand that a sustainable caseload is one you’ve helped to grow
- Communicate openly — you’ll tell us if something isn’t working, if you need more support, or if something could be done better, rather than quietly struggling or disengaging
- Value reflection and learning — you see supervision not as a compliance requirement but as a genuine tool for growth
- Are comfortable with ambiguity — we’re a growing clinic and things evolve; you contribute constructively rather than waiting for everything to be perfectly defined
- Care about the communities you serve — not just professionally, but personally
We want people who will grow with us, not just pass through. If you’re looking for a fixed system to slot into, this probably isn’t the right fit. If you’re looking for a place where your initiative and voice genuinely shape what the clinic becomes, it might be exactly that.
Clinical Focus & Experience
Experience or genuine interest in the following is particularly valued:
- LGBTIQASB+ communities and gender and sexuality diversity
- Neurodivergence — ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, learning disorders, sensory processing differences, and 2E/3E presentations
- Trauma and complex trauma
- Minority stress, intersectionality, and identity-related stress
- Men’s and TGDNB disordered eating
- High-masking and camouflaging presentations
We work in neurodivergence-affirming, trauma-informed, and identity-aware ways. You don’t need expertise in all of these areas — but you do need genuine curiosity about them and a willingness to sit thoughtfully with complexity.
Highly Desirable Experience
Not essential, but highly regarded:
- Trauma-informed CBT, ACT, DBT, Schema Therapy, EMDR/EMDR 2.0
- Conducting ADHD, Autism, and/or other neurodevelopmental assessments
- WPATH gender-affirming medical/surgical readiness assessments
- Experience across Medicare, NDIS, Victims of Crime, National Redress, WorkSafe, and TAC frameworks
- PracSuite practice management software
- Contributing to information resources, educational content, or clinic marketing
- Building and maintaining referral partnerships and community relationships

Recruitment Process
Apply via Indeed with a cover letter. Please do not email your application directly to the clinic.
Begin your cover letter with the words: “I am not a robot.”
Your cover letter should tell us:
- Why The Liminal Clinic feels like the right fit for you
- How your experience and interests align with the role and our client population
- Your location
- The presentations and populations you work with (or are most drawn to)
- Any assessment experience (e.g. ADHD, Autism, WPATH) and your experience working with marginalised communities
We especially encourage applications from psychologists who bring lived experience of marginalisation, diversity, or feeling “othered” — and who feel called to support others navigating similar experiences. Newly registered and early-career psychologists are warmly welcomed.
Please don't email resumes or cover letters directly — applications go through Indeed only.
Selection Process
- Shortlisted candidates may be invited to submit a short 2-minute video response
- Progressing candidates will be invited to a casual coffee introduction with the Director (Prahran), then a formal online interview. Process will be adapted for interstate candidates.
- Referees will be contacted for final candidates
A merit list may be created from this process for future roles (valid 6 months), with no need to reapply or re-interview.
