Registered Nurse – GP & Skin Cancer Clinic
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, professional, and motivated Registered Nurse to join our busy GP and Skin Cancer Clinic. The successful candidate will be available Thursdays & Fridays and at times some leave cover, and will provide high-quality nursing care, support general practitioners and skin cancer doctors, assist with procedures, and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient-centred care in a friendly and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients across general practice and skin cancer services.
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs, wound assessments, and health screenings.
- Assist doctors with skin cancer consultations, biopsies, excisions, and other minor surgical interventions.
- Prepare treatment rooms and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, suture removal, and provide post-operative care and patient education.
- Administer medications, injections, immunisations, and other treatments within scope of practice.
- Undertake health assessments, care planning, and chronic disease management in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Support preventative health initiatives, including recalls, health promotion, and patient education.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using electronic medical records.
- Ensure infection prevention and control standards are consistently met.
- Manage clinical stock, equipment, and vaccine cold chain requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, accreditation processes, and ongoing professional development.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, skin cancer doctors, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Essential Criteria
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Current CPR certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong clinical assessment and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to patient-centred care.
- Competency in infection prevention and control practices.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
- Experience in general practice nursing.
- Experience assisting with skin cancer medicine and minor surgical procedures.
- Experience in chronic disease management and care planning.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards for general practice.
- Experience using Best Practice, MedicalDirector, or similar clinical software.
