We are seeking a dedicated, professional, and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team, on a part-time basis, 4 days per week.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, efficient financial and administrative support to our core finance team. Acting as a vital point of contact for our school community, you will play a key role in accounts receivable/debtors, accounts payable, purchasing, and general financial operations.
Reporting directly to the Business Manager (and working collaboratively within the broader Administration Team overseen by the Director of People Operations), you will help ensure the smooth and professional financial administration of the College.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Accounts Receivable & Parent Liaison: Manage parent accounts (including updating communication logs and monthly analysis); handle fee inquiries via phone and email; assist with annual billings, payment plans, year-start financial processes, and ongoing debt collection; coordinate financial hardship interviews; issue termly bus billings.
- Accounts Payable & General Support: Undertake purchasing of school materials and equipment; perform purchase orders and bank reconciliations; provide payroll support; and cross-cover other finance tasks as required.
- Mission, Culture & Compliance: Enthusiastically model and uphold the Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct of the College. Maintain absolute confidentiality, adhere to safety and workplace policies, and maintain healthy, professional boundaries within the school community.
Essential Criteria
- Hold (or have the ability to immediately obtain) a current Queensland Working with Children Positive Notice (Blue Card).
- Proven experience working in a busy office administration environment, including the routine use of modern office equipment and technology.
- Intermediate proficiency in both the Google Workspace and Microsoft Office suites, backed by accurate and efficient data entry skills.
- High-level organisational skills with a proactive approach to managing time, prioritising tasks, and maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- A proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team environment and engage positively with all members of a school community (staff, parents, students, and visitors).
- A strong, personal commitment to affirming, upholding, and modelling the Christian values, virtues, Statement of Faith, and Staff Code of Conduct of Freshwater Christian College.
Highly Regarded
- A Certificate or Diploma in Business, Accounting, or Financial Services.
- Previous financial administration experience within a school environment.
- Experience with The Alpha School System (TASS).
