Senior Systems Integration Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Integration Engineer based in Canberra for a a long term contract with possible extensions, to support the design, integration, validation, and sustainment of complex ICT systems
This is a high-impact role where you will provide authoritative engineering advice, work across multi-national stakeholders, and contribute to the delivery of a digitally integrated System.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain system design and architecture documentation, outlining integrated configurations, interfaces, dependencies, and design intent
- Ensure continuous alignment between system implementation, architectural intent, and integration requirements through active stakeholder engagement
- Provide Level 3 technical support and maintain system integrity, availability, and compliance across environments
- Lead and contribute to system integration, validation, and Test & Evaluation activities, including risk reduction initiatives
- Perform configuration management of hardware, software, and system artefacts across production and development environments
- Produce clear engineering reports capturing integration findings, risks, and recommendations
- Support innovation initiatives and integration of new systems
- Contribute to key documentation including JMEI, NETOPS, and networking artefacts
- Provide expert technical guidance to stakeholders across ICT teams, project staff, and security authorities
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience applying systems and software engineering practices in system integration (requirements analysis, interface management, configuration control, validation)
- Extensive experience integrating and sustaining complex enterprise ICT environments, including applications, infrastructure, and user environments
- Strong understanding of security frameworks, including ISM and Essential Eight mitigation strategies
- Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies (IP addressing, routing, DNS, DHCP, segmentation)
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior technical expert, providing guidance and resolving complex integration challenges independently
- Must hold current NV1 Security clearance and be eligible to obtain NV2 security clearance
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Postgraduate qualification or formal training in Systems Engineering
- Expertise in identity and access management systems (Active Directory, PKI, federation, Group Policy)
- Scripting or automation experience (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Experience managing desktop and server SOEs aligned to approved architectures
