SAW Machinery is an established Australian machinery specialist providing sales, commissioning, routine maintenance, and emergency technical support for industrial Steel, Aluminium & woodworking CNC processing machinery.
We are currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Service Maintenance Technician / Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our technical team. In this role, you will perform start-up commissioning, routine preventative maintenance, mechanical/electrical diagnostics, and on-site servicing across client manufacturing facilities and workshops throughout Western Australia.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex mechanical and basic electrical issues in industrial CNC machinery, working collaboratively to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Perform and document structured preventative maintenance procedures on a variety of conventional and automated machines (including inspections, adjustments, lubrication, and component replacements) in accordance with technical specifications.
- Conduct on-site inspections, start-up procedures, and full operational test runs on industrial Steel, Aluminium & woodworking CNC processing machinery to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with performance standards.
- Execute minor and major mechanical repairs, rebuilds, and alignments across conventional and CNC equipment.
- Adjust and calibrate machinery using precision measuring equipment and technical test sheets to optimise operational performance and cutting accuracy.
- Collect, record, and analyse machine performance data, service logs, and diagnostic test results to improve equipment reliability and operating processes.
- Assist with the technical design, configuration, and implementation of machinery modifications to enhance safety, efficiency, and functionality.
- Provide remote technical support and telephone assistance from the office base (or as required) to guide clients through machine diagnostics, parameter checks, alarm resets, and operational troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Fitting, Mechatronics, or equivalent trade certificate / diploma (AQF Level 3/4 or higher).
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical servicing, installation, or maintenance of industrial machinery (Steel, Aluminium & woodworking equipment highly regarded).
- Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings, pneumatic schematics, and machine wiring diagrams.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills using precision measuring tools.
- Valid Driver’s Licence (for travel to local client facilities).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Pay: $83,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
