You’re willing to try complex and diverse work.
You're a forward thinker who sees potential where others don't. You'll have the chance to shape and transform urban spaces, contribute to sustainable development and create vibrant, liveable communities for future generations to enjoy.
In this role, you'll:
Lead end‑to‑end operations for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance across field and control‑centre technologies. You will be accountable for service operations, incident, problem and change management, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement embedded into all operational practices.
In this role, you will oversee 24/7 monitoring and control of ITS assets, managing service performance against SLAs and regulatory obligations. You will lead major incident management, post-incident reviews, and ensure effective coordination across multiple vendors and technology platforms.
You will manage a field operations team of approximately 25 staff, ensuring work is effectively planned, prioritised, and delivered. You will implement and enforce structured operational processes, maintain service continuity, and optimise maintenance planning across geographically distributed assets.
The role also includes governance of vendor performance, contract compliance, and ensuring value for money across managed services. You will manage configuration, release, and environment readiness, while analysing operational data to drive improved reliability, efficiency, and performance.
A key focus will be on safety and compliance, embedding audit practices, hazard reporting, and quality controls across all activities, while also managing inventory, sourcing, and logistics of materials required by field teams to support ongoing operations. AWS and Azure environments, driving modern, cloud-native design, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevSecOps practices to uplift hosting and platform capability.
You will oversee backend, and enterprise integration workstreams, ensuring seamless interoperability between legacy systems and modern platforms. A key part of the role is supporting delivery in safety-critical road environments, applying knowledge of operational platforms to resolve complex technical challenges and unblock delivery.
You will lead solution architecture and design, ensure compliance with ICT and cyber security standards, and embed governance, risk, and quality assurance practices across delivery lifecycles. Working closely with architects, engineers, and product owners, you will align solutions with enterprise architecture and long-term strategic roadmaps.
The role also involves managing risks across multi-vendor environments, ensuring compliance with regulatory and commercial obligations, and maintaining strong transparency with senior stakeholders through structured governance and reporting.

About you
You are an experienced operations leader with a strong background in ITS, infrastructure, or field-based technology environments, managing large-scale operational services and geographically dispersed roadside assets.
You bring proven experience leading teams, with the ability to coach, allocate work, and build high-performing field maintenance teams who are typically on site across the state 3-4 days per week. You are highly organised and excel at planning work efficiently, implementing structured processes, and ensuring adherence to operational and safety standards.
You have strong experience in incident, problem, and change management, and are confident managing competing priorities across complex environments. You bring experience managing vendors and contracts, ensuring service delivery meets performance, compliance, and commercial obligations.
You are analytical and data-driven, able to interpret operational data to improve reliability and performance outcomes. With a proactive and hands-on leadership style, you ensure resources, inventory, and field requirements are effectively managed, enabling smooth and efficient operations.
You thrive in dynamic, safety-critical environments and are committed to delivering high-quality, reliable services that support critical transport infrastructure and the broader community.
