We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to join our Child and Family Health (CFH) nursing team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert clinical care, leadership, and education, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based, and family-centred services for children and their families.
In this pivotal role, you will work in partnership with families and colleagues to deliver comprehensive primary health care, supporting optimal health and developmental outcomes for children. You will also play a key role in building capacity within the workforce, fostering a capable and confident team. You will lead and support early identification of vulnerabilities and implement strengths-based, evidence-informed interventions that make a meaningful difference in the lives of families.
Where you'll be working
Based at Doonside Community Health Centre, you will be part of a dynamic CFH nursing team across the district committed to delivering integrated, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to a seamless service experience for families by supporting evidence-based assessment, care coordination, timely referrals, and access to health and developmental services.

What you'll be doing
- Provide expert, family-centred clinical care and consultancy using a strengths-based, trauma-informed Family Partnership approach
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and apply advanced clinical reasoning to support families with complex needs
- Guide families to access coordinated, integrated health and developmental services
- Lead and support CFH nurses in best practice, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives
- Act as a clinical role model, promoting high standards of care and documentation
- Contribute to and or lead research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Identify learning needs and deliver education programs to strengthen the CFH nurse workforce
- Support service planning, innovation, and strategic development to improve service delivery and outcomes

Essential Criteria:
- License: Category C driver’s license with willingness to travel between sites.
- Qualifications: Postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health Nursing
- Registration: Registered nurse with a current licence to practice from the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Selection Criteria:
1. Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia; at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition who has approved post Graduate qualification in Child and Family Health Nursing, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by WSLHD
2. Ability to apply high level clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
3. Demonstrated clinical expertise in partnership principles, child health and development, perinatal infant mental health and trauma informed care.
4. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and sound & timely clinical decision-making skills
5. Demonstrated understanding of the application of evidenced-based practice and the principles of continuous quality improvement as it relates to child & family health nursing.
6. Proven clinical leadership skills with effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework.
7. Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area, and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
8. Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence based research and knowledge of the practice development framework for clinical practice.
