Your responsibilities will include:
- Model visible leadership and actively demonstrate our Work Safe Live Safe and Customer-focused values.
- Plan, develop assurance tools and deliver H&S assurance activities in line with the H&S Assurance Plan, supporting continual learning and risk intelligence across the Ausgrid Group.
- Lead and facilitate independent WHS and technical public and worker safety investigations using ICAM and Learning Teams methodology across the Ausgrid Group, informing corrective and preventive actions leading to systemic improvements.
- Lead and facilitate risk management, compliance review and corrective action management activities for serious and high potential incidents across occupational and psychosocial hazards for the Ausgrid Group.
- Prepare, coordinate and present executive and board level reports and insights, enabling risk-based decision making and investment in improved control measures across the Ausgrid Group and the HSMS.
- Prepare, coordinate, present to and engage with sector and industry bodies to translate insights into practical recommendations that enable continuous learning and improvement at an organisational and sector level.
- Coach, provide support and expert advice to H&S Auditors/Investigators in the effective completion of health and safety incident investigations and audits, ensuring quality of reports, effectiveness of recommendations and effective consultation with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and expert advice to senior leaders, front line leaders, HSCs and HSRs to support their understanding of H&S investigations, assurance and risk activities, Fair and Just Culture and assist with issue resolution where required.
- Manage works delivered by contract providers including review of work, management of budget and monitoring compliance with contract terms.
- Translate data and trend analysis into business unit-specific insights that support the identification of emerging risks and themes, continuous improvement and remedial action.

Essential Qualifications
- Degree or postgraduate qualifications in human factors, risk or occupational health and safety disciplines or equivalent.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of five years’ experience leading WHS assurance, investigations and risk management activities in high-risk sectors, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in preparing and delivering executive- and board-level reports.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving ability.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively, influence, coach and mentor stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Adaptive and agile critical-thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into simple, easy-to-understand explanations or processes.
- Proficient research, report-writing and editing skills, with a high attention to detail.
- Lead Auditor OH&S Management Systems qualification or ability to achieve qualification.
- Proven experience in managing WHS assurance and investigations programs, and application of ICAM,
- Learning Teams and other similar investigation approaches.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety theory and its practical application across complex, geographically dispersed, matrixed organisations, including Safety 2, Human and Organisational Performance (HOP), Human Factors, and Critical Control Management.
- Demonstrated understanding of contractor management and delivery models.
- This role will require coverage of afternoon/night shift as required, in line with the EA provisions.
- This role will be required to respond to and investigate serious incidents and injuries.
Desired Criteria
- Sound understanding of high-risk work activities in transmission or distribution networks, or the renewable energy sector.
- Certification IV in Training and Assessment
