About us:
Alcohol and Other Drug Service (AODS) Cairns is a multidisciplinary service that provides a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to addressing issues associated with problematic alcohol and other drug use at both the individual and community levels. The service delivers a range of supports, including brief interventions, individual counselling, group therapy, harm reduction initiatives such as the Queensland Opioid Treatment Program and Queensland Needle and Syringe Program, hospital liaison services, withdrawal management, and education programs aimed at improving health outcomes and reducing the harms associated with alcohol and other drug use.

About your opportunity:
In this position you will...
Provide brief interventions, education, information, and referrals to NSP clients on topics such as safe disposal, blood borne viruses and other harm reduction topics appropriate to injecting drug use.
Assess and monitor service users who present at the NSP at risk of overdose or in distress due to risky substance use.
Coordinate data collection and entry and other information as required by Queensland Needle and Syringe Program (QNSP) or the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.
Provide a range of education and training resources relevant to clients/community groups and stakeholders that support positive NSP outcomes.
