About the role:
The Frontline Support Services project aims to design, implement and evaluate a new Frontline Support Officer (FSO) function to strengthen frontline service delivery and reduce administrative burden on operational police members. The project includes a fast-tracked return pathway, enabling suitable former members to undertake the Reservist role. The roles will focus on administrative and support functions currently performed by frontline officers, including station counter services and investigation and prosecution documentation. The project is being delivered as a two-year pilot to refine the role, assess workforce requirements, and establish an evidence base for a sustainable alternative workforce model. The overarching objective is to improve frontline capacity by reallocating administrative tasks, enabling operational members to focus on core policing activities.
The Senior Operations Manager oversees the Operations Stream of the Frontline Support Services Model. Four Senior Sergeants are direct reports, who in turn have reports that supervise reservists (Frontline Support Officers). This role is critical for ensuring service delivery to ensure the Frontline Support Officers are freeing frontline police officers from administrative duties so that they can increase the time spent in community. The Senior Operations Manager is considered the Frontline Support Services Owner, as they responsible ensuring the model operates in accordance with the Concept of Operations.
