Primary objective
Reporting to the Support Services Manager, be responsible for the management and coordination of Human, Operational
and Budget Resources of the Laundry Services of Gove Hospital. This position is accountable for the provision of an efficient
laundry service that complies with relevant Infection Control, Work Health and Safety and Australian Healthcare Laundry
processing standards.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide supervision over all aspects of linen production workflow while coordinating staff task allocation, resource
management, staff induction and education.
2. Oversight of linen production standards and work practices to ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Infection
Control, Work Health and Safety and Australian Healthcare Laundry processing standards and use of plant equipment.
3. Organisational skills to prioritise linen production to meet established timeframes and needs of the Hospital at all times.
4. Liaise with GDH work units and wards and provide comprehensive support and high level customer service.
5. Participate as a member of the Linen Services team in linen production and ordering and co-ordination of staff uniforms.
6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
7. Follow precise procedures when carrying out duties which include: record keeping, collecting, sorting and washing soiled
linen, drying and delivering clean linen and operating Laundry machinery
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated relevant laundry experience in a hospital, industrial, or institutional environment and physical ability to
undertake laundry duties including the use of industrial equipment, and safe handling of chemicals and transporting waste
to designated collection points.
2. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise staff within a team environment, and exercise sound judgement in solving
day to day linen production issues
3. Comprehensive knowledge of laundry procedures, with capacity and skill to perform processing operations.
4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with people from diverse cultures.
5. Good working knowledge of Information systems and technology related to laundry facilities including commercial
laundry plant and equipment, staff rosters, Microsoft office applications
6. Proven ability to successfully supervise, organise and prioritise workloads and workflow to motivate staff to ensure
completion of tasks within required time frames.
7. Demonstrated ability to maintain a courteous and professional manner at all times while developing a positive workplace
culture
Desirable
1. Certificate III Laundry Operations.
