The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Key Account Manager – Business Development (BDM) to accelerate the growth of GWS Oceania across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific.
This role is ideal for a relationship-focused sales professional who thrives on developing strategic partnerships, winning new business, and growing existing accounts. You will be responsible for managing key OEM customers, expanding our water enhancement product portfolio, and developing strategic partnerships with major plumbing and trade retailers.
Working closely with the Regional Director and cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in delivering sustainable revenue growth while strengthening GWS's position in the Oceania market.
Key Responsibilities
OEM & Key Account Management
- Develop and grow relationships with OEM manufacturing partners, including pump and water systems manufacturers.
- Convert transactional customers into long-term preferred supplier and private-label partnerships.
- Manage the full lifecycle of strategic accounts, including business development, relationship management, pricing, forecasting, contract negotiations, and issue resolution.
- Conduct regular business reviews to identify growth opportunities, product gaps, and account development initiatives.
- Lead new OEM opportunities from initial engagement through technical positioning, commercial negotiations, and signed agreements.
- Promote GWS's technical capabilities and compliance credentials, including AS1210 and WaterMark certification.
Business Development – Water Enhancement Solutions
- Drive sales growth across GWS Oceania's water enhancement portfolio, including:
- One Stop+ Systems
- Purefer Filtration Range
- Quatreau & Q Sparkling/Boiling Water Systems
- Identify, develop, and secure new customers within the water treatment and filtration sectors.
- Strengthen relationships with existing customers while expanding market share.
- Partner with Product Management and Marketing to support product launches, channel development, and installer engagement initiatives.
Strategic Retail Partnerships
- Develop relationships with national plumbing and trade retailers, including organisations such as Reece and Tradelink.
- Engage category managers to secure new product listings, private-label opportunities, and exclusive product ranges.
- Position GWS as a preferred supplier by demonstrating product quality, compliance, and commercial value.
- Manage retail partnerships from initial engagement through ongoing account management.
Sales Performance & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity pipelines, sales forecasts, and customer activity.
- Provide regular reporting and forecasting to the Regional Director.
- Support business development initiatives across New Zealand and Pacific markets where appropriate.
- Represent GWS at industry exhibitions, trade events, and customer forums, including Ozwater.
- Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Technical, and Customer Service teams to ensure excellent customer outcomes and service delivery.
About You
You are an experienced B2B sales professional with a proven track record of building strategic customer relationships and delivering sustainable business growth. You enjoy identifying opportunities, negotiating commercial agreements, and creating long-term partnerships that deliver value for both customers and the business.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Business Development, Key Account Management, Technical Sales, or OEM Sales.
- Experience within the water industry, plumbing, pumps, filtration, building products, or industrial sectors is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success managing strategic customer accounts and developing new business opportunities.
- Strong commercial negotiation and contract management experience.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience using CRM systems for pipeline management and sales forecasting.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams.
- Willingness to travel across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific region as required.
- Knowledge of Australian compliance standards including AS1210 and WaterMark certification will be highly regarded.
