FEEDLOT / AGRI TECHNICIAN
Borrello Ag, part of the Borrello Beef / Gingin Meatworks Group, who are vertically integrated growers, processors and suppliers of beef to domestic and international markets. They are a West Australian family-owned businesses.
Borrello Beef Group are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join a regional feedlot team (based near Kalannie, within 300km of Perth) in a full-time capacity assisting in all aspects of feedlot operations including providing technical support to the on-site manager with regards to animal health, feed composition and commodity handling. This role will report to the Feedlot Manager.
Key Role and Responsibilities
The Feedlot/ Agri Technician role will be responsible for;
- At the direction of the Feedlot Manager or his delegate the Technician will perform tasks and responsibilities necessary according to the various work loads and schedules of the operating teams within the feedlot business unit. This may include but is not be limited to;
- Assisting with the receival and induction procedures of livestock designated for internal or custom feeding programs,
- Unloading, loading, mustering, scanning, drafting and weighing of livestock. All aspects of livestock husbandry and welfare including handling and veterinary treatments, checks for the identification and diagnosis of illness with efficient communication to the Manager,
- Monitoring livestock health to set and maintain standards of quality,
- Monitoring livestock to gauge the effectiveness of feed formulae,
- Oversee complex ration mixes for the various feeding stages in accordance with direction from the consulting Animal Nutritionist, including providing feedback,
- Ensure that livestock handling facilities are kept in a hygienic state, including testing for and identifying pathogenic micro-organisms, insects and parasites that may be harmful to livestock,
- Assisting in devising and maintaining livestock control, including stocktaking, data and commodity recording,
- Developing, operating and maintaining complex technological systems and equipment used in livestock production, including recording and analysing feed composition,
- Receival and recording of feed commodities,
- Providing training and technical support on technological solutions, inlcuding livestock tracking systems and feedlot management software,
- Collecting and collating data for research and animal husbandry to assist consulting Animal Nutritionist,
- Assisting consulting Animal Nutritionist to identify issues, improve techniques and production processes
Preferable Qualifications Required
- Previous experience in working in an intensive livestock handling operations
- Strong computer skills
- Strong data analysis skills
- Good communication skills
- C class license, minimum
- Machinery experience preferred but not essential
- Available to work rostered weekends
Applications
Pay range $75,000 - $100,000 per annum plus superannuation. Immediate start available. Pay processed weekly.
