Our client, Durgamaa Pty Ltd, trading as Jay Bhavani Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, is seeking an experienced full-time Chef to join its kitchen team in Williams Landing, Victoria. The position offers an annual salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
Jay Bhavani operates as a full-service Indian vegetarian restaurant offering a wide range of traditional Indian dishes, from flavourful street food favourites to hearty meals that will satisfy taste buds. The business is committed to delivering the best vegetarian experience, making every meal a celebration of taste, tradition, and quality.
Key responsibilities include:
· Planning menus featuring Indian cuisine, calculating food and labour costs, and arranging the purchase of food supplies, spices and ingredients.
· Checking the quality of Indian dishes throughout preparation, cooking and presentation.
· Discussing food preparation matters relating to the restaurant's menu with managers, dietitians, kitchen staff and service staff.
· Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance on the preparation of Indian dishes and food preparation procedures.
· Preparing and cooking a variety of Indian dishes according to menu standards.
· Explaining and maintaining hygiene, food safety and cleanliness requirements throughout kitchen operations.
· Assisting with the selection, training and supervision of kitchen staff when required.
· Freezing, storing and preserving food items, including spices, sauces and other ingredients, in accordance with food safety standards.
· Monitoring ingredient quality, stock rotation and portion consistency to maintain food quality and minimise wastage.
· Overseeing the preparation and coordination of kitchen operations during service to ensure meals are produced efficiently and consistently.
Qualifications:
· Must hold Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, along with a Diploma of Hospitality Management.
· Should have at least one (1) year of Australian experience as a professional Chef.
Note: Australian citizens and permanent residents are preferred.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
