A Site Manager in construction is responsible for managing all day-to-day activities on a building site to ensure the project is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Typical job responsibilities include:
Supervising construction workers and subcontractors.
Planning and coordinating daily site activities.
Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations.
Monitoring project progress and resolving site issues.
Ordering and managing materials and equipment.
Inspecting work quality and ensuring it meets specifications.
Liaising with the Project Manager, Engineers, Architects, and Clients.
Keeping site records, reports, and documentation up to date.
Ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
Skills and qualifications:
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Experience in commercial or residential construction.
Knowledge of Australian building codes and WHS regulations.
Ability to read construction drawings and schedules.
White Card (mandatory in Australia).
Certificate IV or Diploma in Building and Construction is often preferred, although many Site Managers progress from trades such as carpentry.
Pay: $15,000.00 – $18,000.00 per month
