Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Electrician to join our team and contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of electrical works across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience in the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. This role suits a trade-qualified professional who takes pride in their workmanship, adheres to safety standards, and can work both independently and collaboratively to meet project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to plan and execute electrical installations in the correct sequence
- Measure, mark out, and prepare reference points for cable runs, conduit, and insulation prior to installation
- Select, cut, and connect appropriate wire and cable to terminals, connectors, and switchgear in accordance with design requirements
- Position, mount, and install electrical switchboards, distribution boards, and associated control equipment to relevant Australian standards
- Connect completed electrical systems to the power supply and carry out thorough commissioning checks prior to handover
- Utilise electrical and electronic test instruments to trace, diagnose, and resolve faults across a range of systems and equipment
- Repair and replace defective wiring, components, and parts to restore systems to full working order with minimal disruption
- Test circuit continuity, insulation resistance, and earthing to verify compliance with AS/NZS standards and project specifications
- Maintain, inspect, and modify existing electrical installations to accommodate upgrades, renovations, or changing operational requirements
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant Australian electrical regulations, codes of practice, and workplace health and safety legislation
- Maintain accurate documentation of works completed, including test results, inspection records, and as-built information
- Liaise with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to coordinate works and support the timely completion of projects
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent recognised trade qualification
- Current Electrical Worker Licence valid in the relevant state or territory
- Solid working knowledge of the Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3000) and applicable Australian Standards
- Demonstrated experience in the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems across residential, commercial, or industrial environments
- Competency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
- Proficiency in the use of a broad range of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety obligations and safe working practices on site
- Ability to identify, fault-find, and resolve electrical issues efficiently and accurately
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team and alongside other trades
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces where required (relevant tickets advantageous)
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Electrotechnology or higher-level trade qualification
- Restricted Electrical Licence (REL) or additional licencing endorsements applicable to specialised work
- Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, or EWP certification
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial projects
- Familiarity with solar PV systems, battery storage, or renewable energy installations
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or data and communications cabling
