The Closing the Gap Priority Reform 4 (PR Program, within the NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS), is currently looking for a Principal Project Manager to join their team!

About Us
Between 2025-28 the Department of Customer Service (DCS) will work in partnership with Aboriginal Affairs (AANSW) and the NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (NSW CAPO) to deliver the Closing the Gap (CtG) Priority Reform 4 (PR implementation actions and Aboriginal Data Sovereignty and Governance (ADS&G) reform development work program (PR4 Program). DCS will work with all NSW government agencies on key implementation actions on behalf of the partnership, to improve shared access to and shared decision-making regarding NSW Government-held data for Aboriginal communities.
Primary Purpose of the Role
The Principal Project Manager role will lead and manage project teams to develop, deliver, monitor, and evaluate projects and streams, achieving project outcomes and supporting improved shared access to government-held data for Aboriginal communities. The role will lead the delivery of a range of strategic, whole-of-government data and digital projects and other activities to achieve 2025-28 NSW Closing the Gap Priority Reform 4 (PR program commitments.
The Principal Project Manager will contribute to the delivery of PR4 in ways that align with Aboriginal communities’ needs and priorities to achieve NSW Government commitments of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of projects, identifying interdependencies and leveraging resources to maximise efficiencies and achieve required organisation outcomes.

Lead and oversee all aspects of project development and implementation across a portfolio of complex projects, including supporting business cases, preparing project plans, establishing appropriate governance, and meeting reporting requirements.

Ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards, and in line with the project management methodology by identifying, allocating, and managing resources effectively.

Develop and implement strategies and tools for the continuous monitoring and evaluation of projects, risk and contingency management, benefits realisation and project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues and assess project progress and overall effectiveness.

Lead and manage project team/s, internal and external project staff, to deliver all key project/s milestones and outcomes.

Manage stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure stakeholders are engaged throughout the project and project deliverables are met.

Provide expert advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and present recommendations to support project delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and other project priorities.
About You
You bring high level of experience in strategic and innovative project management, and superior understanding of project methodologies, processes and procedures. You are passionate about enabling ethical, innovative, and transparent data sharing, particularly in partnership with Aboriginal Communities. You have:

Proven experience in managing the delivery of a portfolio of data and digital projects.

Strong knowledge of project methodologies, process and procedures.

Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills to identify risks, develop options, and deliver reform outcomes.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate project complexity into actionable strategies and advice for both government and community partners.

Commitment to innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement in public sector reform, in particular to improve shared access to data for Aboriginal Communities.
