Simmonds Steel is a growing steel fabrication business located in Wangara, Western Australia. We are looking for a qualified full-time first-class welder/Steel fabricator to join our team in a long-term position. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in this role is a must.
Duties will include:
- Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
- Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
- Cutting marked out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
- Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
- Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
- Examining welds for width of bead, penetration, and precision
- Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
- Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
The preferred applicant will be:
- Able to work with a variety of metals
- Experience with welding codes
- A high level of fabrication skills
- Able to read drawings and blueprints
- Able to pass weld tests
- Reliable, hardworking and self motivated
- Have attention to detail
- Punctual and honest
This is a long term position with an attractive salary package ranging between $80,000.00-$95000.00 per annum plus superannuation with some overtime available.
