Lead a high performing team, mobilising talent through leadership, advice, development and support to all staff members (including the Queensland Police Juvenile Pipes and Drums, Volunteers in Policing and Honorary members).
Drive accountability and outcomes in musical performance and conduct by role modelling professional musicianship, including the ability to source, compose, redraft and transpose orchestral and bagpipe scores, provide musical instruction and coordinate rehearsals for all QPP&D programs.
Manage and sustain relationships with stakeholders to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.
Manage staff performance, training, development, risk mitigation and application of resources to assist the Officer in Charge and Operations Coordinator to embrace and operate within legislative and policy framework.
Foster an inclusive workplace where health, safety and wellbeing are promoted and prioritised.
Lead a safe workplace overseeing the maintenance of instruments and equipment.
The Pipe Major is the senior member and musical director of the band, responsible for its overall direction, performance quality, and standard of commitment. The Pipe Major and Drum Sergeant collaborate to determine the band's repertoire and oversee how performances are executed. The Pipe Major leads the Pipe Corps, ensuring instruments are properly maintained and that high standards of musicianship, dress, drill, and performance are upheld. The Pipe Major works closely with the Drum Sergeant to achieve cohesive ensemble arrangements, optimal performance outcomes and serves as the Development and Performance (DAP) Supervisor for the Pipe Corps.
