We are looking to hire one permanent, full-time Horticultural Mobile Plant Operator to join our team, with an immediate start.
Job duties:
1. On request, this person will drive the designated Tractor from the Shed to the harvest area and return with harvested produce.
2. At the beginning of each day, the vehicle pre-use procedure set down by the Maintenance Manager must be carried out
3. In the process of picking up harvested produce, the driver must adhere to speed regulations and product protection requirements so that produce is not spilt from trailers or other equipment or damaged or dirtied in any way
4. On return from the paddock to the shed, the produce is unloaded using the forklift, watered down and either placed in the coolroom, the vacuum cooler, or into the designated packing shed as directed by the Packing Shed leading hand
5. The Horticultural Mobile Plan Operator (HMO) is responsible for the loading of the trailers or other equipment ready for the next trip
6. From time to time, the HMO may be required to use farm utes for the pick up or for transporting harvest personnel as directed by the Operations Manager.
7. The HMO will also be required to drive tractors to fertilise, sow and harvest crops.
8. Records of harvest tallies, plants planted and spray/fertiliser diaries must be maintained.
9. When transporting people, it is essential that all safety requirements are strictly adhered to. There will be no excuse for breach of this requirement. Any breach will receive a written warning.
10. From time to time, some vehicle maintenance may be required
Skills needed:
1. Excellent tractor and ute driving skills even in difficult terrain
2. The ability to back trailers tractors etc in difficult terrain
3. Must have a forklift license
4. An understanding of the best way to look after the produce during transport back to the shed
5. A good understanding of safety regulations, the ability to follow these instructions without constant supervision
Pay: $80,000.00 per year
