Permanent full-time role based in Melbourne CBD
Community Housing Limited is seeking an experienced Insurance Manager to establish and lead the strategic management of CHL’s insurance portfolio across all operating entities and special purpose vehicles. Reporting to the Chief Governance Officer, this brand new role will ensure CHL’s insurance arrangements are fit for purpose, cost-effective and aligned to organisational risk, while providing trusted specialist advice across the business.
This is a permanent, full-time role based in Melbourne CBD, working office hours. It offers a competitive salary, superannuation, salary packaging (increasing your take home pay) and flexible working arrangements.
What you’ll do
As Insurance Manager, you will lead the strategic oversight, renewal, governance and continuous improvement of CHL’s insurance program.
You’ll help strengthen organisational resilience by:

Leading the strategic management of CHL’s insurance portfolio, ensuring coverage aligns with organisational risk, operational needs and value for money.

Managing the annual insurance renewal program, including policy review, data coordination, broker engagement, insurer negotiations and market testing.

Overseeing claims management to support timely resolution, effective stakeholder coordination, accurate documentation and maximised recoveries.

Providing specialist advice on insurance requirements, contractual risk allocation and insurance implications for projects, procurement, operations and organisational change.

Developing and maintaining insurance frameworks, procedures, registers and related documentation to support consistent and compliant practice.

Preparing clear reports for Executive and governance forums on insurance performance, claims trends, risks, renewals and improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
-
Relevant tertiary qualification in Insurance, Risk Management, Business, Commerce, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Demonstrated experience managing complex corporate insurance programs, including policy placement, renewals, claims management and coverage optimisation.

Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, contractual insurance requirements and insurance risk management principles.

Experience managing broker, insurer, legal adviser and external stakeholder relationships.

Strong analytical, negotiation, project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide commercially sound recommendations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-level reports and explain complex insurance matters clearly.
