AQA was established in 1987 by a group of people with quadriplegia who saw a need to improve access to information, support and employment opportunities for people who had sustained a spinal cord injury (SCI) – particularly quadriplegia. Today AQA continues to provide individualised supports to people with spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities.
About the Role
We are seeking reliable and compassionate Support Workers to provide high-quality care to a client with complex needs based in the Balwyn area. This role offers stable evening shifts, flexible ad-hoc day work, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference in someone's quality of life.
Shifts on Offer
- Consistent Evening Shifts: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (9:45 PM – 11:45 PM)
- Additional Work: Ad-hoc day shifts available based on client needs.
What You Will Do
- Personal Care: Assist with showering, grooming, dressing, and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Complex Care: Provide bowel and urinary care, including catheter management.
- Manual Handling: Safely manage transfers utilizing a ceiling hoist and other specialized mobility equipment.
- Community & Companionship: Accompany the client to social activities, shopping, and appointments.
- Safe Practice: Follow individual support and risk-management plans to deliver safe, respectful, and compliant care.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be:
- Compassionate & Respectful: Committed to delivering people-centred care that respects the client’s privacy and independence.
- Experienced: Confident in complex care management, specifically bowel and urinary care.
- Competent in Manual Handling: Experienced in the safe use of mobility equipment, including ceiling hoists.
- Flexible & Adaptable: Able to tailor your support to the client's unique routines and preferences.
- Reliable: Punctual, with a current Australian driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle for travel to and from shifts.
