Maintenance Coordinator (Electrical)
Location: New South Wales (NSW)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Operations Manager
Position Overview
The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising electrical maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant, equipment, and facilities. This role leads a maintenance workforce of approximately 40 employees and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintenance schedules, and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Coordination
Coordinate day-to-day electrical maintenance activities across the site.
Develop and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
Schedule maintenance work to minimize operational downtime.
Prioritize work orders and allocate resources effectively.
Monitor maintenance performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and support a maintenance team of approximately 40 tradespeople, technicians, apprentices, and contractors.
Conduct toolbox talks, team meetings, and performance reviews.
Ensure adequate staffing levels and workforce planning.
Foster a positive safety culture and high-performance work environment.
Safety & Compliance
Promote and enforce compliance with WHS legislation and site safety procedures.
Ensure risk assessments, permits, isolations, and lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
Maintain compliance with statutory inspections and electrical safety requirements.
Asset Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Analyse equipment performance and maintenance data.
Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Support reliability improvement initiatives and asset management strategies.
Contribute to maintenance budgeting and cost control.
Administration & Reporting
Manage maintenance activities through the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Prepare reports on maintenance KPIs, equipment reliability, downtime, and costs.
Coordinate procurement of parts, materials, and contractor services.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Demonstrated experience coordinating electrical maintenance operations.
Experience leading large maintenance teams (20–40+ personnel).
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and maintenance practices.
Experience using CMMS software.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Desirable
Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related field.
Experience in manufacturing, mining, utilities, food processing, or heavy industry.
Training in reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) or asset management.
High Risk Work Licences and First Aid certification.
