Cultural Advisor
Full-time | 38 hours per week
This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.
Lead cultural healing, strengthen cultural governance, and help shape the future of Aboriginal community wellbeing across Rumbalara.

About the Role
As the Cultural Advisor, you will provide cultural leadership across Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative, ensuring cultural safety, knowledge and practices are embedded throughout the organisation.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead cultural ceremonies and events, provide cultural advice to the Board, CEO and staff, support cultural governance and cultural supervision, and deliver programs, activities and camps that promote healing and recovery for individuals, families and communities affected by intergenerational trauma.
You will also play a key role in mentoring, training and strengthening the cultural capability of both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff across the organisation.

- An Elder in the Yorta Yorta community
Knowledge and Skills:
- The ability to provide cultural leadership and work in a culturally respectful manner with clients, their families and communities, as well as with management and staff
- The ability to foster cultural connections and share cultural knowledge
- An understanding of the historical and contemporary issues and impacts for Aboriginal people, their families and communities.
