Senior Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineer - PlasmaLeap Technologies
Location: Camperdown, NSW (Sydney)
Employment type: Full-time, on-site, senior-level.
Main responsibilities
The role focuses on owning the mechanical design and industrialisation of high-power electromechanical systems from concept through production. Key duties include:
Leading the full product lifecycle: concept → prototype → testing → design-for-manufacture (DFM) → validation → production release.
Designing mechanical architectures, packaging, assemblies, and serviceability features.
Driving DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly), supplier engagement, and production readiness.
Working with manufacturing processes such as die casting, injection moulding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and extrusions.
Solving thermal-management challenges using CFD simulation and laboratory testing.
Building and testing prototypes, creating fixtures/jigs, and rapidly iterating designs.
Managing drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), revision control, and quality documentation.
Required qualifications
PlasmaLeap is seeking someone with:
Strong experience taking electromechanical products into production.
Deep DFM/DFA expertise.
Advanced CAD skills.
Experience with injection moulding and die-casting design.
Thermal engineering experience (CFD and physical testing).
Experience in manufacturing environments and product industrialisation.
Pay: From $14,200.00 per month
