About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Production Superintendent to provide strong operational leadership and ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production outcomes on site. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is responsible for leading the production team to deliver safe operations, maintain safe systems of work, achieve operational targets and support continuous improvement across site operations
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead site production teams to deliver safe, efficient and reliable operational performance
- Ensure safe systems of work are implemented, maintained and continuously improved
- Prepare production schedules, assign priorities and monitor delivery against targets
- Manage people, equipment and resources to optimise production outcomes
- Track operational performance and implement corrective actions where required
- Work closely with engineers and other superintendents to align production plans and plant availability
- Monitor budgets and track expenditure
- Support and develop supervisors and leading hands through coaching, feedback and accountability
- Promote employee engagement, teamwork and a strong safety culture across the workforce
- Maintain positive working relationships with client and supplier representatives
About You:
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience within coal mining
- Demonstrated safety leadership and commitment to safe operations
- Strong people leadership, team development and performance management capability
- Well-developed organisational, planning and communication skills
- Experience managing production operations in a mining environment
- Ability to balance safety, operational and financial objectives
- Experience working for a Tier 1 mining services contractor or owner operator will be highly regarded

Blackwater Mine
Located in Central Queensland, and owned by Whitehaven, Blackwater Mine is one of the state’s largest coal mines, just 21 km from Blackwater. BUMA Australia has been handling truck and excavator pre-strip operations here since 2012, moving over 40 million BCM of material annually.
Our fleet includes Komatsu 930E and Caterpillar 789C haul trucks, paired with Hitachi EX8000, Caterpillar 6060, and Hitachi EX3600 excavators.
