Reporting to the General Manager, you'll be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of our fleet operations, ensuring maximum fleet availability, safety, compliance and cost efficiency.
You'll lead operational improvements, oversee fleet maintenance and lifecycle planning, develop high-performing teams and work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver exceptional service.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys solving problems, analysing performance data and implementing practical solutions that drive business outcomes.
As Fleet Operations Manager, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of fleet operations, ensuring vehicle availability meets operational requirements and service standards.
- Oversee the management of the light commercial and heavy vehicle fleet, including vehicle allocation, commissioning, replacement and disposal.
- Coordinate fleet maintenance, servicing, inspections and repairs to ensure vehicles remain safe, compliant and operational.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and company requirements, including HVNL, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), registration and roadworthiness obligations.
- Monitor fleet performance, utilisation, maintenance costs and operational data, providing insights and reporting to support informed decision-making.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of fleet systems, records and documentation, supporting the adoption of fleet technologies and digital tools.
- Identify operational risks, compliance issues and opportunities for continuous improvement, implementing solutions that enhance fleet performance and efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and service providers to deliver effective fleet outcomes.
- Lead, coach and support the Fleet Coordinators, fostering a collaborative, safe and high-performing team culture.
- Contribute to broader operational priorities by supporting business initiatives and undertaking other reasonable duties as required
You'll be a confident and engaging leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment and has a genuine passion for improving fleet performance.
You will also bring:
- Demonstrated experience in fleet, transport or operational leadership, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
- Proven experience managing light commercial and heavy vehicle fleets, with a strong focus on safety, compliance and operational performance.
- Sound knowledge of Australian transport legislation, including Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and motivate teams while fostering a positive, collaborative culture.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across operations, workshops, suppliers and support functions.
- Analytical and solutions-focused, with experience using fleet data and reporting to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions and deliver results in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Qualifications in logistics, transport, fleet management or business are desirable.
